Frequently Asked Questions

Buying a car is a big decision — and it’s normal to have questions. Below are the most common things clients ask before starting a search. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to get in touch and we’ll come back to you shortly.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What exactly do you do?

We help you buy the right car at the right price — with proper checks, clear advice, and none of the usual pressure.
You tell us what “right” looks like, we shortlist the best options, pressure-test them properly, and support you through to handover.

    Do you sell cars?

No — we don’t hold stock and we’re not a dealership.
That’s the point: the advice stays independent and buyer-led.

What types of vehicles do you source?

Modern performance, specialist/enthusiast cars, executive & luxury, and well-chosen classics — as long as they meet the standard.

  • How do we start?

A quick conversation first — budget, priorities, dealbreakers, and what matters most (spec, condition, history, ownership, running costs).
From there we move into shortlist + due diligence.

How long does it take to find a car?

It depends on how specific the brief is and what the market looks like.
Sometimes it’s days. Sometimes it’s a few weeks. We’d rather wait for the right one than force a “close enough”.

Can you work with a car I’ve already found?

Yes. If you’ve found something promising, we can validate it properly — history, pricing sanity, red flags, and whether it’s worth your time.

  • How do you charge?

    Two stages:

    • Stage 1 — Engagement & Due Diligence fee (non-refundable): Covers the shortlist, checks, and pressure-testing.

    • Stage 2 — Success fee (only if you buy): Payable only when you proceed with a vehicle we’ve introduced and supported through to purchase.

    Why is Stage 1 non-refundable?

Because the work happens upfront — market scanning, filtering, checks, and advice.
Even if the right call is “walk away”, you’ve still paid for proper judgement, not a sales pitch.

Do you offer refunds if I don’t buy?

If you don’t proceed, you don’t pay Stage 2.
Stage 1 covers the work and time already delivered.

Can I just pay Stage 1, then buy the car you recommend myself to avoid Stage 2?

Stage 2 applies when you proceed with a vehicle we’ve introduced and supported through to purchase.

That’s because the value isn’t just finding the car — it’s the full support through negotiation, deposit, paperwork checks, timing, and handover guidance.

If you’d like a one-off validation on a car you’ve already found yourself, we can do that too — and we’ll be clear upfront what’s included.

  • What checks do you carry out?

    Typically:

    • MOT history and patterns

    • Ownership / mileage sense-checking

    • Pricing sanity vs market

    • Spec & option review

    • Known model weak points

    • Background checks and history review

    • Condition indicators (photos, dealer conversation, paperwork validation)

If needed, we’ll recommend a specialist inspection too.

    Do you do physical inspections?

We can organise inspections and advise on what’s worth doing depending on the car, value, and risk.
For specialist cars, a proper inspection is often money well spent.

    Can you help with negotiation?

Yes — we’ll guide you on what’s fair, what’s not, and where the leverage is (or isn’t).

  • Do you take commission from dealers?

    No.
We’re paid by the buyer — not the seller.

What if you think the car isn’t right?

    We’ll tell you.
Even if it’s “the one you really want”. The goal is confidence, not regret.

Are you FCA regulated / do you offer finance?

No — we don’t arrange finance.
We can point you in the right direction, but we don’t upsell products or push add-ons.

  • Can you help with delivery / transport?

Yes — if delivery is needed, we can help you plan it properly and avoid common pitfalls.

    Do you handle part-exchange?

We can advise on sensible options and timings, but we don’t buy vehicles or act as a dealer.

  • What if I’m not sure what car I want?

    That’s normal.
Some clients come with a model in mind — others come with a budget and a goal. We’ll narrow it down quickly and steer you away from the usual traps.

Do you source cars from auctions?

We can, but only when it makes sense and the risk is understood.
Most clients prefer vetted private/dealer examples with stronger history.

    What areas do you cover?

    Nationwide UK sourcing.
