Client Terms
These terms are here to keep things clear and straightforward.
Walker James Automotive provides an independent vehicle sourcing and due diligence service. We do not sell vehicles, hold stock, or provide finance. Our role is to help you make a confident decision — with proper checks and honest advice.
1) Our service
We provide:
Vehicle sourcing and shortlisting
Due diligence and background checks (history, value, red flags)
Buying advice and negotiation support (where requested)
Support through to handover (for relevant service levels)
We do not provide:
Vehicle sales or stock
Mechanical repairs
Finance brokerage
Warranty cover
2) Independence and incentives
We are paid by the buyer, not the seller. We do not accept commission for steering clients to specific dealers or vehicles. Our advice is buyer-led, independent, and based on what stacks up best against your brief.
3) Fees and payment
Stage 1 — Engagement & Due Diligence Fee (non-refundable)
Stage 1 is payable upfront to begin work. This covers time, market assessment, shortlisting, and due diligence activity.
Once work has started, Stage 1 is non-refundable, as the service is delivered through advisory work and professional judgement — whether or not a purchase proceeds.
Stage 2 — Success Fee (only if you proceed)
Stage 2 becomes payable only when you decide to proceed with purchase of a vehicle introduced or assessed by Walker James Automotive.
Stage 2 is payable prior to completion / handover unless otherwise agreed in writing.
4) Search scope and timeframe
To keep searches fair and manageable, each engagement includes:
Up to 14 days active search time
Shortlisting and due diligence across up to 5 vehicles
A shortlist of 3–5 suitable options (market dependent)
If you’d like the search to continue beyond this scope, we can agree an extension in advance.
5) Vehicle introduction protection (fair use)
If a vehicle introduced or assessed by Walker James Automotive is purchased independently within 90 days, the Stage 2 success fee remains payable.
This is simply to protect the work involved in identifying, assessing, and supporting the purchase of a vehicle.
6) Due diligence limitations
We provide advice based on the information reasonably available at the time, including seller communications, documentation, and third-party sources.
Where required, we may recommend an independent inspection. The decision to proceed with any inspection — and the final purchase decision — remains with the client.
7) Warranty and vehicle condition
Walker James Automotive does not provide a warranty.
Any warranty cover is provided (if available) by the selling dealer, manufacturer, or third-party warranty provider.
We will advise on what protection is in place and what to confirm before proceeding.
8) No-pressure approach
We will never pressure you into a purchase. Our job is to guide you to the right decision — even when the best outcome is walking away.
9) Client responsibilities
To deliver a good outcome, we ask clients to:
Provide clear requirements and dealbreakers
Respond in a reasonable timeframe when options are presented
Confirm when they wish to proceed with a vehicle
Ensure funds and insurance arrangements are in place before purchase / collection
10) Refunds
Refunds are not offered once Stage 1 work has started.
If a genuine error has occurred or a service has not been delivered as agreed, we will address it fairly and promptly.
11) Privacy and communication
All searches are handled discreetly. Client information is treated confidentially and is used only to deliver the service requested.
12) Agreement
By engaging Walker James Automotive and paying the Stage 1 fee, you confirm acceptance of these terms.
